Rostechnadzor and the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA) held a coordination meeting via videoconference on August 11, 2021.

The participants shared information on the progress of construction of nuclear facilities in Russia and the current status of the El Dabaa NPP construction project in Egypt.

The Russian side also presented a detailed report on Rostechnadzor’s experience in the preparation of terms of reference for safety reviews for NPPs as part of the licensing process.
The parties discussed the possibility of using Russian regulatory documents in the field of the use of atomic energy the Egyptian regulatory body to improve the national regulatory framework.

Concluding the meeting, the parties decided to develop a plan for bilateral cooperation for 2021 and 2022, which would include workshops and on-the-job training for ENRRA staff in the main areas of regulatory activities, such as development of regulatory documents, licensing and supervision. The possibility of conducting joint inspections at the NPP sites will be considered.
