This issue assesses the presentations and themes addressed during the sixth EUROSAFE Forum held in Berlin in November 2004.

The overall theme adopted for this Forum dealt with the experience feedback as a cornerstone of nuclear safety.

The main topics addressed were: The aim to disseminate the best practices;
Safety assessment of nuclear facilities: sharing experiences through international working groups;
Nuclear installation safety research: cross-industry and cross-speciality subjects to enhance research attractiveness;
Environmental and radiation protection: new approaches, new tools, new experiments;
Waste management: a wider co-ordination of research programmes under EC leadership;
Nuclear material and nuclear facilities security: how well are we prepared?
