Renewal of Practical Agreement between ETSON and IAEA
ETSON is delighted to announce that the Practical Agreement between ETSON and IAEA was renewed by an exchange of letters between ETSON’s President and IAEA’s Deputy Director General L. Evrard, until September 2027.
For many years this framework has made it possible to implement fruitful cooperative activities, with a common goal towards enhancing and harmonizing safety assessment practices, through technical expertise and dedicated safety and radiation protection research.
Indeed, ETSON shares many goals and topics of common interest with the IAEA. We interact regularly at both IAEA and ETSON events (ETSON Conferences, EUROSAFE, IAEA General Conferences, topical conferences and IAEA TSO Conferences) and in particular in IAEA’s TSO Forum. A number of our respective projects have benefited from these high-level technical exchanges, such as ETSON expert group reports, or the IAEA's TECDOC 1835. The joint development of the TSO Self Capability Assessment (TOSCA) methodology is another example of the dynamism and quality of this work and its benefits.
These results, together with the renewal of our agreement, are encouraging for the continuation of our cooperation with the IAEA, to which ETSON will remain fully and actively committed.
