30 Nov 2023 | JSI involved in the unplanned outage of the Krško NPP Jožef Stefan Institute, as one of the TSO organizations in Slovenia, is currently involved in support of the Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration activities during the unplanned Krško Nuclear Power plant outage. |
05 Jul 2023 | New exhibition on nuclear technology at the Nuclear training centre ICJT In 2022/23 an extensive refurbishment of the permanent exhibition on nuclear technology at the Nuclear training centre ICJT, JSI, took place: a new graphical design, a significantly larger number of interactive exhibits, a new lecture room for demonstration of radioactivity experiments. |
05 Jul 2023 | Workshop on the Safety of Small Modular, Advanced and Fusion Reactors, June 20-21, Celje, Slovenia The activities of the HARMONISE project (Towards harmonisation in licensing of future nuclear power technologies in Europe) aim to pave the way towards harmonisation of approaches to effective licensing of innovative fissions and fusion power plants. |
30 Apr 2022 | ENEEP Demonstration course “Experimental Reactor Physics” at the Jožef Stefan Institute, Ljubljana, Slovenia In the framework of the EU-funded project “ENEEP – European Nuclear Experimental Educational Platform”, a demonstration course titled “Experimental Reactor Physics” was successfully carried out at the Jožef Stefan Institute for a group of 10 students in February 2022. |
11 Oct 2021 | The 30th International Conference Nuclear Energy for New Europe (NENE2021) successfully completed The jubilee 30th NENE2021 conference was attended by record 236 participants from 22 countries. Varied conference program was accompanied by the ENEN & OECD-NEA Workshop regarding nuclear education and training and the ENEN Ph.D. Event competition. |
11 Oct 2021 | Nuclear-driven production of renewable fuel additives from waste organics Enhanced solketal and acetol production was demonstrated in selected aqueous glycerol-acetone mixtures with γ radiation. This radiation process constitutes the first-reported, radiation-induced chemical process for solketal, and provides a notable example of the potential for unexplored renewable processes that can be realized using ionizing radiation - especially considering waste spent fuel pools as a source of catalytic energy. |
17 May 2021 | THELMA laboratory at the JSI Accurate prediction of the convective single- and two-phase heat transfer is very important in process and power engineering for safety, reliability, and efficiency. In this aspect, boiling is particularly interesting and complex phenomena, which may significantly enhance the heat transfer from the heated surface to the coolant flow. The detailed understanding of these phenomena is of great importance and, as such, is put under investigation in the THELMA laboratory (Thermal-Hydraulics Experimental Laboratory for Multiphase Applications) at the Reactor Engineering Division at Jožef Stefan Institute (Slovenia). |
17 May 2021 | European Nuclear Experimental Educational Platform - ENEEP The ENEEP is an open platform for any European university or European research institute actively involved in education, training, and competence building in the nuclear field. |
17 May 2021 | Testing a new exercise at the JSI TRIGA reactor - Cherenkov radiation-based power meter As one of the tasks in Work Package 4 of the ENEEP project, a search for novel experimental education activities was performed, which resulted in a shortlist of new experiments for possible future implementation and integration in the activities offered by ENEEP. One of the identified new experiments – a Cherenkov radiation-based power meter – was successfully set up at the JSI TRIGA reactor. |
17 May 2021 | NENE 2021 The Nuclear Society of Slovenia cordially invites you to participate at the jubilee 30th Nuclear Energy for New Europe - NENE2021. |
